15 April 2020 is considered as Black Wednesday amongst the Wrestling Circles as WWE made lots of cuts. And there are many announcements of such cuts from the WWE in the coming days.

Recently, on 30 April, WWE announced that it released the pro-wrestler, Curtis Axel, through its official site.

Why WWE Fired Curtis Axel?

The last of April 2020 has become the last day of wrestling pro, Curtis Axel, in WWE. It had come to the acknowledgment of many wrestlers that they could be released if they want, which WWE reported via @Wrestlevotes.

As a result, Curtis became the second wrestler after Cain Velasquez to get released from the WWE. There might also be other reasons for Curtis to leave WWE. However, they are kept confidential.

Announcing the release of Curtis, WWE released a statement, that read:

"WWE has come to terms on the release of Curtis Axel.

We wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Besides Curtis, there are many other names in WWE releases, including Kurt Angle, Drake Maverick, Sarah Logan, Erik Rowan, Zack Ryder, Rusev, Maria Kanellis, and more. They are believed to be released soon.

A Short Look To Curtis Axel's Wrestling Career And His Net Worth In 2020

Curtis Axel, 40, whose real name is Joseph Curtis Hennig started his professional wrestling career with WWE in 2007. After signing the contract, he fought a match at Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).

Later, in 2010, Curtis competed in NXT under the ring name Michael McGillicutty, where Curtis debuted as The Nexus. At NXT, he was a one time WWE Tag Team Championship with David Otunga. Curtis changed his ring name to Curtis Axel to pay tribute to his father "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig and his grandfather Larry "The Axe" Hennig.

Similarly, he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship and WWE Raw Tag Team Championship with Bo Dallas with The B-Team.

Previously, he missed a Royal Rumble match as Erick Rowan attacked the entrance ramp in January 2015. Later, he began referring himself to the 'true winner of Royal Rumble 2015.'
