Late Kobe Bryant is remembered for many reasons after his tragic death in the helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on 26 January 2020. Among many facts, Kobe being the victim of sexual accusations has lighted its trend back in the days. The late NBA pro was alleged of raping a hotel employee named Katelyn Faber on the 1st of July 2003.
Katelyn Faber was 19 years old in 2003 when she accused the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant of sexual assault. The teenage girl filed a sexual assault complaint in the Sheriff's office in Eagle, Colorado, demanding at least $75,000 in damages.
The documents suggested that Kobe had checked into The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera hotel before having surgery on 2 July 2003.

The complaint further explained that Kobe raped Katelyn in his hotel room on 1 July. However, he denied the assault allegation but admitted to a sexual encounter with Katelyn.
Concerning the accusation, the authorities arrested Kobe Bryant for the investigation; however, the case dropped in September 2004 after Katelyn turned down to testify the trial. Later, a civil suit was settled out of court.

Kobe Had Agreed To Apologize To Katelyn Faber
The sexual abuse accusation alleged over Kobe Bryant had finally come to an end in September 2004. Later, Kobe put forward the out-of-court settlement proposal, which Katelyn accepted for 'emotional and other injuries' in February 2005.
Furthermore, Kobe Bryant apologized to Katelyn for the incident they went through. He mentioned;
"Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did."
He further released the following apology statements:
"First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences, she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colorado."
Kobe said Katelyn did not consent to their encounter.
"I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter."
Kobe further said in his statement:
"I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado."
The alleged sexual assault case became the talk in the sports world that affected Kobe's family life. Kobe revealed that his wife, Vanessa Baine Bryant's miscarriage in early 2005, resulted from his case. He further mentioned that anxiety led to the loss of their second child.

Although the relationship somehow became tough, Kobe and Vanessa stood by the same side, supporting and accompanying each other.
