Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas began his career as a scheduler and a media assistant. He also worked as chief strategist for Hilary Clinton's 2016 Presidential Campaign. An openly gay person, Zac supports LGBTQ rights. What's more interesting is that he takes being gay as a matter of pride and is dating a same-sex partner.

Jaylen Smith has been elected as the youngest black Mayor from Earle, Arkansas. Moreover, he defeated the city's street and sanitation superintendent, Nemi Matthews, with 235 votes to 185. Earle is a small town around 30 miles away from Memphis and has a population of around 1831.

On 14 June 2025, Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman, a former Speaker of the House, and her husband Mark were targeted and murdered in their home in Brooklyn Park in a politically motivated act. The murderer, Vance Boelter, used a police disguise, including a police uniform, badge, and tactical gear.

Rex Minter was a former Mayor of Santa Monica, California, who died in a small plane crash-landed and flipped upside down on a beach in Santa Monica on Thursday afternoon at around 3 p.m. Rex cause of death is due to small plane crash and died on 22 December 2022 at the age of 95.

Yemi Mobolade leads the mayoral race with 28.66% votes after the initial posting of results from the City Clerk's Office. The race will likely head to a run-off between whichever two candidates come out on top. If results hold, Mobolade will face off against Wayne Williams who is second behind him with 20.37%.
