Joe Dumars

Joe Dumars, a former NBA player who had his career from Detroit Pistons from 1985 to 1999, is named a new GM of Sacramento Kings. Dumars elevated to the GM after the former General Manager, Vlade Divac, resigned from the position on 14 August 2020. As a GM, Dumars will now be responsible for filling out the front office of Sacramento Kings.

In 2019, Dumars served as an exclusive advisor to Vlade Divac after serving in the Pistons' front office from 2000-2014. 

Regarding Dumars' new assignment to the Sacramento Kings, the owner of the team, Vivek Ranadivé mentioned:

"Joe has become a trusted and valued advisor since joining the team last year, and I am grateful to have him take on this role at an important time for the franchise."

Although Dumars will be tasked with finding a new general manager, the choice of him being a permanent president in the team is still a mystery. But in the meantime, ESPN's Marc J. Spears hinted that the search for Dumar could lead him to another former Pistons executive, Scott Perry.

After the former General Manager Vlade Divac resigned, the team owner released a statement. He stated, 'This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is the best path ahead as we work to build a winning team that our loyal fans deserve.'

'We are thankful for Vlade's leadership, commitment, and hard work both on and off the court. He will always be a part of our Kings' family,' he added.

Joe Dumars' Net Worth

Joe Dumars, a retired basketball player, has a net worth of $10 million, which he earned from his professional basketball career. He showcased a strong stats during his high school at McNeese State University, where he averaged 22.5 points per game. Similarly, he had 25.8 points per game as a senior.

Dumars, who stands at the height of 6 feet and 2 inches tall, entered the NBA world back in the 1985 NBA Draft after Detroit Pistons selected him with the 8th overall in the first round. With Pistons, he played fourteen seasons since his draft in the NBA.

Dumars made quite impressive stats averaging 16.1 points per game in the total 1018 games. Similarly, he made the average ratio of 4.5 rebounds, 46.0 field goal percent, 38.2 three-points goal percent, and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Throughout his career, he won a couple of championships with Detroit Pistons in 1989 and 1990. Similarly, he got named the 1989 Finals MVP in the 1989 NBA season. After playing for nearly one and a half-decade, he announced his retirement in 1999.

After seven years of his retirement from professional basketball, he got inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. He also served as the President of Basketball Operations for the Detroit Pistons from 2000 to 2014.
