The anime, Edens Zero, is adapted from the manga series of the same name written by the same author as Fairy Tail’s Hiro Mashima and produced by the J.C. Staff. It is a sci-fi and fantasy anime where the main leads, Shiki, Rebecca, and Happy, embark on the space journey.
As the scriptwriter remains the same as Fairy Tail, we can find many similarities between the two series and their characters. Nonetheless, the storyline is quite different and thrilling to watch, especially for the scientific-technology adventure lovers. Likely, What’s On Netflix has speculated the anime series to be the “biggest anime addition” on the platform yet.
With an early debut of the series in Japan in April 2020, this last of August will see the release of the anime’s Season 1, consisting of 25 episodes, which will be available on Netflix worldwide.
Slated to start its airing this 26 August (Thursday), Netflix has already released its trailer with a short description of the anime, which read,
“Aboard the Edens Zero, a lonely boy with the ability to control gravity embarks on an adventure to meet the fabled space goddess known as Mother.”
The official trailer embeds on Netflix's YouTube handles has already garnered over a million views, with exciting comments from the fans looking forward to watching the anime on Netflix.

Cast And Characters Of Edens Zero
Many Fairy Tail fans will recognize the similarities with the character designs straight down, similar to Fairy Tail. However, it is still an exciting story that the fans have been looking forward to.
The opening song for the first twelve episodes of the anime is titled Eden through the rough by Takanori Nishikawa and changed from the 13th episode onwards to FOREVER by L’Arc-en-Ciel. And the ending song for the first twelve episodes of the anime is titled, Bouken no VLOG by CHiCO with HoneyWorks, which has changed to Sekai no Himitsu by Sayuri from the 13th episode onwards.
As for the main and supporting cast, they are listed below:
• Shiki Granbell, voiced by Takuma Terashima
• Rebecca Bluegarden, voiced by Mikako Komatsu
• Happy voiced by Rie Kugimiya
• Elsie Crimson, voiced by Sayaka Ohara
• Homura Kougetsu, voiced by Shiki Aoi
While the excitement for the story remains, many of Hiro Mashima’s works fans found a strong resemblance between some character designs among the series Fairy Tail and Edens Zero. Some of them being; Happy from both series, Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail and Rebecca Bluegarden from Edens Zero, Jellal Fernandez from Fairy Tail and Justice from Edens Zero, Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail and Elsie Crimson from Edens Zero, and Wendy Marvel from Fairy Tail and Labilia Christy from Edens Zero. Though most of the characters are yet to make their debut in the anime adaptation itself, fans have recognized most of the similarities from the manga illustrations.
However, as I have mentioned before, despite being written by the same creator as the Fairy Tail’s, it is different from the author’s previous works, as it touches the dark topic of human cruelty in it and the bad guys from this series are deeply rooted to be hated against. For the other things, it depicts the world build surrounding the universe and adds up the AIs as the huge part for forwarding the storyline.
In fact, the anime remains unique coming from Hiro Mashima, which features an omniscient narrator known as Xiaomei, and is also quite modernized, giving some references to YouTube and other digital celebrities. One of the main protagonists Rebecca, working as a B-Cuber, a streamer, aims to become famous through it.
Edens Zero Season 2 Update
Since the blu-ray of Edens Zero consisting of 25 episodes was already announced prior, the show will seemingly conclude its first season after the 25 complete episodes.
And after well-received critical acclaim from the fans, they are already questioning the anime adaptation continuation with another season.
However, neither the author Hiro Mashima nor the producer J.C. Staff has said anything about the anime getting a second season. Nonetheless, the anime is still considered to get as per the fans, since the first season has been gaining popularity worldwide, and the continuation of the anime is heavily impacted through the success of its freshman season.
The anime-focused outlets have predicted that a second season announcement will be coming in late 2021, followed up with its release sometime in 2022.

While the worldwide audience remains one thing going for the anticipated second season of the series, another favorable thing is that more chapters from the manga are still adapted to the anime itself. As the first season will be covering the manga’s story up to the Sun Jewel Arc, with its happening in season 2, we will see from the main storyline-following arc, Belial Gore arc onwards.
Well, further information on the series’ anime continuation remains in the dark. Let’s just hope that the series will do well until the end of the first season, which will encourage its authors and producer to invest their time in giving out another season to the fans worldwide.
As for the cast of the second season of Edens Zero, most of them will remain the same with some more addition of the supporting casts, which has yet to do their debut on the anime but has already been illustrated in the manga. But it has to wait until the series gets another season, which is yet to be announced.
