Maksim Chmerkovskiy has announced via his Instagram that he made it on the train to Poland after being stuck in Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. He updated his followers, stating, "We're heading to Warsaw hopefully. Train to Kyiv was not an option. The situation at the train station is insane."
He explained how it was a lot worse when the time to board the train came and described himself as the big man with nothing but a backpack and said it was traumatizing. He shared that there were usually up to 30 people in his particular wagon, but they were told to have fit 135, and walkways were packed with people everywhere. He said it was sweaty and claustrophobic.
Maksim further explained the situation of Ukraine, stating that an eight-year-old boy was hysterically crying and not wanting to let go of his father, and he wrote, "Verbatim 'if you stay, I want to stay too because if they kill you, I won't be able to help.'"
It was reported that men from 18-60 years old were prohibited from leaving Ukraine, so the reason for Maksim managing to get on the train is not known. Maksim had shared a video of himself stuck in Ukraine on Instagram and stated that there was always another way and how the answer was never WAR.
