Drew Carey Reflects The Death Of Former Fiancee

The American comedian Drew Carey told 48 Hours how Valentine's Day would never be the same for him following his former fiancee Amie Harwick's brutal death on 15 February 2020. He gave an exclusive interview about the case of Amie's death for The Final Hours of Amie Harwick, airing on CBS on 12 February, marking her second death anniversary. Drew pointed out Valentine's Day sucked and how it was not a good day to remember for him.

Drew Carey shared how he thought of her every day and remembered her smartness. He shared how hard he fell for her at the time. He said that Amie always made him feel good about himself, and Amie was the one with whom he could open up to entirely and be himself. Drew also talked about how hard it was for him to break up with her and that it was painful.

Drew further noted how the main life purpose for Amie was to help people, especially women. She cared deeply about domestic violence issues and helped many of her patients who were victims of sexual abuse too. Drew also concluded his interview regarding the case, saying that people needed to acknowledge how many women are a victim of domestic violence and that they should work on it.

His former late fiancee, Amie Harmick, was found dead, lying on the ground battered beneath the third-floor balcony of her Hollywood Hills home on 15 February 2020. According to the medical examiner's report, there was evidence of strangulation, and with some investigations, Harwick's ex-boyfriend, photographer Gareth Pursehouse was arrested with murder, and he pleaded no guilty. The upcoming show on CBS will provide information on evidence collected by authorities, including a syringe that caused Amie's death with Nicotine.

Drew Carey Relationship Details

Drew Carey had talked about how he forgave his former fiancee's murderer back in April 2020. He expressed how he couldn't function properly and took a break to talk to high school kids. He explained that the guy who murdered his ex-fiancee was mentally ill and was abused as a kid. Carey noted how important it was to forgive people like that and wished that he never did what he did or wished he never met her. He said forgiving people doesn't mean getting along and hanging out together as friends.

Carey expressed how easy it was to carry around revenge, but there was nothing that would make up for what he did so; he added that he tried to practice instant forgiveness and unconditional love. He also shared that he fell short of that all the time but tried to do that for his betterness.

Before Amie Harmick, Drew Carey was engaged to an ex-girlfriend, Nicole Jaracz, in 2007. But the couple split after five years of getting engaged. His rep confirmed the split, saying that they still had a great deal of love and affection for one another. The couple never shared children together, but Carey played a father role for Nicole's son, so his rep added that he would still be involved with her son's life.

Carey also wished Nicole on Mother's Day of 2016, thanking her for bringing their son into his life. Carey was then engaged to the late Amie Harwick in Jan 2018, but they called off their engagement less than a year. His rep noted that their split was very amicable. After her death, Carey told the Closer stating how Amie was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist.
