Logan Mailloux became a hot topic recently for being picked with 31st overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. The draft comes after Logan withdrew from the NHL Draft earlier this week following his conviction last year in Sweden for taking a photo of a woman performing a sex act without her consent and circulating it among some teammates.
Logan then publicly apologized for his act unbecoming of a better person and quietly stepped back from this year’s NHL Draft, despite its great importance for the young players.

However, despite his withdrawal, the Canadiens drafted him with the 31st pick. And they also released a statement regarding their acts to which the team said to be fully aware of the ongoing situation, and they were committed to accompany
“Logan on his journey by providing him with the tools to mature.”
Mailloux said, per Greg Wyshynski of ESPN:
“I know I had said that I didn’t want to be drafted this year. But as a young man who wants to become a better person, I feel that being accompanied by the Canadiens organization will help me greatly. They’ve committed to helping me grow as a person. I hope the fans there do learn to accept me. I do feel remorseful. I hope that not only the girl, but the whole fan base knows that as well. It was a stupid, immature mistake to make.”
Greg also reported that Logan was not aware Montreal was going to draft him until it was announced.

Bergevin also told at the time, after drafting him, to the reporters that Mailloux was “remorseful” and has apologized to the family involved. And he further said to give him the “support” he needs for his maturity.
You don’t need to be female, or the parent of a girl, to be shocked by the Montreal Canadiens selection of Logan Mailloux in the NHL draft, but if you’re male, just for a moment try putting yourself in the position of a female fan and picture how devastating this must feel.

Nonetheless, the situation was bound to get some bad rumors for Montreal and its manager. The ESPN analyst Sam Cosentino, a chief scout with North American Central Scouting, TSN analyst Gord Miller, and other such big personality gave their discontented views regarding the drafting of Logan despite his sexual controversies over the internet.
