Beth Phoenix Makes Surprise Return To WWE

Beth Phoenix made a surprise return at WWE Day 1 as a back up for her wrestler husband Edge against Miz and Maryse. Her husband, Edge had been trading heated words with Miz for weeks on Monday Night Raw as Miz and Maryse interrupted Edge’s WWE return on November 29.

Many people speculated for Beth to make comeback as a wife of Edge due to heavy involvement of Maryse in the feud between their partners. Maryse had interfered throughout the Day 1 match as she put the Miz’s foot on the rope to evade a pinfall and she also hit Edge in the head with her heavy purse.

WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix glared on Maryse’s face from the ramp as she made her entrance to the sounds of her Glamazon theme. She chased Maryse around the ring while The Miz looked scared for Maryse. As the Miz turned around Edge hit a spear and was able to win the pinfall. The couple, Edge and Beth Phoenix made the celebration in the ring having Miz and Maryse looking disgusted.

Beth Phoenix had announced her departure from NXT commentary and last appeared on WWE television at NXT 2.0 Games. Her last appearanc eon the ring was in the 2020 Roal Rumble.

They first met each other in WWE and they welcomed their children before marriage. They have two children together; Lyric Rose born in 2013 and Ruby Ever born in 2016.

Her husband, Edge wrote an emotional post on Instagram when she announced that she will be stepping down from WWE NXT. He wrote, “This is a job she never thought she’d do. Let alone excel at. She's her own toughest critic.” He continued to thank her and said, “But thanks to some wonderful partners along the way and some serious work put in, including doing it remotely during the pandemic, she blossomed, as she always does. With all of that being said, we can’t wait to have yo back home to ourselves. Knock em dead Auntie Betty.”

Her husband, Edge has also talked about her in one of his interviews and described her as his therapist and said, “Shes side by side with me through this thing, and she’s experiencing all of these things with me. Then I take a step back, and I go, what must be experiencing? Watching me in there and the worry that must be involved.”

Beth Phoenix was married to Joey Carolan in 2001 who is also a professional wrestler with the ring name Joey Knight. The couple lasted for nine years and got divorced in 2010.
