In an August 2021 Instagram video, Syesha Mercado posted an hour-long video where she and her partner, Tyron Deener, was seen having their newborn baby girl being taken by the CPS with the allegations of abuse, which the couple has continuously denied to.
The footage shows the mother-of-two crying out to no avail, as it was a very heart-wrenching situation of being her children taken from her motherly embrace. While the couple’s daughter was being taken away, they were told it was because they failed to tell authorities she’d given birth during their ongoing legal battle for Amen’Ra.
Moreover, this was the second time, as prior to their son was taken after a routine hospital visit. As per the investigation findings on the case, the investigators have connected the case to a child abuse pediatrician, Sally Smith, who took the final decision to take their daughter, Asset Sba.
While her children were taken by her the second time, this was not the first where a child was being taken away by Sally’s decision. USA Today Network reports that after an extensive investigation on Sally Smith, they found several other couples with children who were taken to the same hospital Amen’Ra was taken to, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and was later being taken away by them whilst Sally being the final decision taker.
Mercado also remained no stranger to this case. Earlier this year, she took her son to that same hospital since he showed signs of trouble taking in the fluids, and Mercado was also deprived of breastmilk due to her pregnancy. So, the treatment seemingly went well, and all as her son didn’t seem to have any health issues. However, as she felt a sense of relief, the next thing she knew was CPS disapproved of her taking her own child back home while accusing her of child abuse and refusing a “B12 shot” for her child.
For this recent case of Mercado’s daughter being taken away by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, a spokesperson for them came out to tell PEOPLE that the parents “refused to cooperate” during an investigation into their son’s health care to which the court’s judge ordered for child’s custody to be placed with the CPS.
Meanwhile, Mercado and Deener have repeatedly denied the accusations saying that the only thing they “have done as parents is make responsible decisions, loving decisions.” Mercado added,
“I went somewhere to get assiatance, my baby was supposed to come home with me. We should have never been criminalized for getting assistance for something.”
As the case has already gone to the lengths of involving the court judges, a heated and tumultuous custody battle seems to be an inevitable thing that will be happening soon.
