Killing of Elizabeth Sennett

It was reported that Rev. Charles Sennett was weary of his marriage to his recently insured wife, Elizabeth Dorlene Sennett. Charles was also in a financial trouble so he contacted his tenant, Billy Gray Williams to murder his wife, Elizabeth Dorlene for $3000. Then, Williams hired John Forrest Parker and Kenneth Eugene Smith for $1000 each to commit the murder of Elizabeth Dorlene Smith. In addition, Parker was given $100 to purchase a weapon by Williams.

On 18 March 1988, Parker and Smith drove to Elizabeth’s residence and told her that they had permission from her husband, Charles to look at the property. Later, they entered Dorlene’s house bathroom and Parker put cotton socks onto his hands. Parker then jumped into Dorlene and hit her with a galvanized pipe and stabbed her to death. Parker and Smith broke the glass in the medicine cabinet and took a stereo along with VCR to make the assault look like burglary.

Later, Parker and Smith were both arrested and convicted of capital murder. Elizabeth Dorlene’s husband, Charles Sennett committed suicide after a week of becoming a suspect in the case. The Jury returned a verdict of life without parole for Parker but the judge sentenced him to death. The Alabama Supreme Court voted 7-2 to reject his plea for a stay. Parker was executed by lethal injection in Alabama on 10 June 2010. Meanwhile, Smith has been on a death row without an execution date. William is currently at the Donaldson Correctional Facility in Jefferson County to serve life in prison.
