It's against the hateful comments that one of the Filipino-American Tik Tok stars, Bella Poarch, drew from the South Korean Tik Tokers. The South Koreans called Pinoys "short and uneducated" as she was sporting an offensive Japanese rising sun flag tattoo.
More than 200,000 Filipinos took on Twitter hashtag #CancelKorea after the incident.
In a recent dancing video on Tik Tok, Bella Poarch's tattoo was seen, and some of the South Koreans mentioned that her ink of a red sun is similar to the Nazi swastika. Although it is used as a sign of luck and fortune, it is also associated with Japanese imperialism. Several critics mentioned that the flag erases the human rights abuses committed by Japanese soldiers in World War II in several countries that they occupied. And South Korea is one of them.
South Korean Tik Tokers slammed the 19-year-old Bella Poarch accusing her of forgetting their history.
However, Bella Poarch is a Filipino, and she moved to the United States when she was 13. Moreover, her Tik Tok clearly shows the flag of the Philippine. Also, the incident drew attention worldwide, making it one of the trending topics on Twitter. One user with a username @RheaJoyValle said;
“We feel betrayed by you guys. Let me remind you that 112 Filipino soldiers died in action during [the] Korean War. The Philippines was the FIRST Asian country to SEND combat troops to your country. The 112 killed soldiers were among the 7,400 Filipinos who were deployed to the Korean peninsula seven decades ago to defend Seoul from North Korea’s invasion."
Similarly, another user, @JuliusOliverP72, wrote, 'When Koreans call you a 'poor country' and 'uneducated' Filipinos but they come here to learn English.' 'Well, do you need a translation? You're educated right,' he directed his words toward the South Korean Tik Tokers.
Recently, Bella Poarch apologized to all her fans through her Tik Tok video and wrote, 'Here is a photo of my arm tattoo. I love Korea🥺😭 I would never do anything to hurt anyone.'
