The ongoing pandemic Coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken the lives of thousands, brought down the world economy, and has risked the lives of billions. The loss of life and property comes first to anyone.
Besides, Coronavirus has affected many other aspects, including the sports and entertainment industry. Several sports events like Euro 2020 and national leagues of all affected nations for 2020 have been postponed. Similarly, the United States saw the shifting of the Coachella Festival and many other events this year due to Coronavirus.
Among all worldwide events, Wimbledon 2020 is one of which got postponed. The All England Club confirmed shifting the tennis championship on 1 April 2020, and it is the first time the tournament is ever postponed after World War II. Also, Wimbledon tweeted the news of canceling the championship this year in concern to the public health that could be affected by novel Coronavirus.

The dates for Wimbledon 2020 was set to be launched from 29 June to 12 July 2020, however, postponing the event had become the need in this circumstance with concern to novel Coronavirus. Wimbledon is more like a festival with two weeks of the time period in 40 games filled with lots of players, coaches, staff, and the managing team. And it could be a possible chance to transmit the virus to those people.
Keeping all those things in mind, the officials called the immediate meeting, after which postponing Wimbledon 2020 became unavoidable.
Talking about the shifting of the sports event, the Chairman of All England Club Ian Hewitt mentioned;
“This is a decision that we have not taken lightly, and we have done so with the highest regard for public health and the wellbeing of all those who come together to make Wimbledon happen.”
Similarly, the official meeting has announced that the 134th edition of the Wimbledon Championship will be held from 28 June to 11 July in 2021.
Roger Federer Is Devastated With The News Of Wimbledon
It appears that former Wimbledon Champion, Roger Federer, is not happy with the official decision of Wimbledon. It might be a reality that the 38-year-old pro tennis player could never play Wimbledon.
Till the date, Federer has won eight Wimbledon titles and has planned to add one more trophy in the list. However, Coronavirus has played a negative role in his journey. In the Wimbledon 2019, Rodger Federer lost finals to Novak Djokovic in an epic fifth set with 13-12.
Roger Federer is not only one to possibly miss the chance to play Wimbledon next year. Petra Kvitova also has the same possibility of missing the championship. The 30-year-old Czech pro is a two-time Wimbledon champion.
