Stephon Gilmore Added To 2022 NFL Pro Bowl Roster

Stephon Gilmore has been added to the 2022 Pro Bowl team Sunday along with Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. Stephon Gilmore will be stepping in for Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey who will be participating in the Super Bowl.

When Stephon Gilmore was added to the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl roster, it was a little surprising as he was limited to just eight-game in 2021 and he compiled 16 total tackles and two interceptions in that half-season of work after he was traded from the New England Patriots. His overall grade for the season was 77.1 as given by Pro Football Focus.

Stephon Gilmore is going to a fifth as a member of his hometown team and he's an unrestricted free agent this offseason. However, his team has said that they'd like him back because he is so valuable to young cornerbacks such as Jaycee Horn, CJ Henderson, Keith Taylor Jr.

Stephon Gilmore's NFL Stats & Contract

Stephon Gilmore has played for the Patriots, Bills, and Panthers for 10 seasons. Throughout his career, Gilmore has 374 solo tackles, 53 assists, 1.0 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and 27 interceptions.

Furthermore, Stephon was selected to play in 3 Pro Bowls and has won 1 Defensive Player of the Year award and 1 championship.

The 31-year-old professional footballer Gilmore was first drafted by the Buffalo Bill tenth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was signed with a contract of $12,084,150 in 2012 with the expiry date of 2016. He was given $7,228,480 as a signing bonus and he became a free agent as UFA in 2017. Then he was signed by the New England Patriots in 2017 with the contract money of $65 million.

Stephon Gilmore then signed his current contract of 5 years with the Carolina Panthers. He was signed with a bonus of $18 million and have an average salary of $13 million. He was also guaranteed $40 million and $31 million at the signing. His annual per-game active bonus was $29,411 and he was paid $411,765 in the 2021 Roster Bonus.

However, The Jaguars were demanding Stephon Gilmore before he signed to Carolina Panthers, and looking back at it it seems the two were never fit. There are three reasons why they aren't a good match as per some reports and one is that Stephon Gilmore's asking price was too high and The Jaguars don't need an unnecessary luxury in their rebuild year. Two is that he would have not played longer for the Jaguars because of his injuries and the last reason might be that Gilmore would have hindered the growth of Jaguars CB Tyson Campbell.

Stephon Gilmore has a net worth of around $30 million as a professional NFL player from the United States of America. He attended high school at South Pointe in Rock Hill, South Carolina and he played college football for South Carolina.
