RJ first came out as one of the best under-12 players in Ontario, under the guidance of his father. Later, he attended St. Marcellinus Secondary School and got named MVP of the Guy Vetrie Memorial tournament in February 2015.
After that, he played three years from Montverde Academy from 2015 to 2018, where he has been named the MaxPreps Freshman All-American First Team (2016), National Sophomore of the Year (2017), and 'Morgan Wooten National Player of the Year' (2018).
