Michael Elgin Arrested For Violating Protective Order

Michael Elgin has not been seen inside the screen or the ring recently, and apparently, it was because of his law violating acts towards his ex-fiance, Alex.

He was said to be missing on 22 June 2021, and new information about him came out this early July, which is quite disturbing. Seemingly, his ex filed an order of protection on him on 12 May, which he broke. Then he was arrested on 29 June by police in Belleville, Illinois, for violating that protective order, and this case is currently ongoing with an investigation on Elgin.

Wrestling News also reported that she claimed to leave her home out of her safety concerns on 21 April 2021. Since the news noted Elgin to have to violate the protective order, but for more clarity, Elgin has violated the protective order not less than 60 times between June 7 and June 14, using alias names and email addresses to try to contact her through her mother, and other third parties.

As per the woman, she was never restrained, battered, abused, or choked during the relationship with Elgin, but she felt intimidated and felt kind, oppressed, and sexually abused due to his size. Also, her police report claims that she has been mentally, emotionally, and verbally abused when they were in their relationship, whether it be while in private or public.

While there has not been any word out yet of Elgin’s court case, but keep watching out to the news to be updated about him.

Controversies Around Michael Elgin

While Michael Elgin has got himself in some serious law-breaking acts, it is not the first time. Previously, he has been linked with some other legal problems in 2020 as some allegations of sexual assault were made against him.

However, Elgin later posted a video via YouTube in early July 2020 retorting those controversies. During the video, he said that the report claiming that Elgin to have sexually assaulted a woman in a hotel room is apparently false. He claimed that other pro wrestlers were also there with him at the time when the duo shared a room and that they would be willing to verify his side of the story.

Elgin talked about the story starting with the refusal the woman made when they were together in the hotel room at the time while other of his four fellow wrestlers were also there with them. This story was around the year 2011, and he also clarified to have been jokingly made fun of about the woman’s refusal for months by his fellow wrestlers.

Another woman claimed that after meeting with friends at a bar in 2016, Elgin sent her an unsought picture of his genitals. Though he continuously apologized for his uncivilized behavior, after seeing the picture in question for himself, he claimed it was not a picture of his [genitals].

These allegations do not end here, as he was also accused of calling a woman “fat” behind her back which caused her emotional distress. But this allegation brought an emotional response from him since he personally is one of those people who has been bullied for his physical appearance in the past.

One of the controversies remained quite dramatic in Elgin’s past, due to which he was relieved of a number of bookings following a number of revelations over social media. It was during the year 2017 when a person on Twitter named Moses Malone revealed on her Twitter account that she went to Michael Elgin (Glory Pro Promoter) on social media about a situation where she was sexually harassed and abused by one of the people who regularly wrestle for the company in Sean Orleans.

Apparently, Elgin didn’t take any action until November of that year. Moreover, Malone also shared the private conversations exchanged between her and the wrestler via Twitter. Malone then posted other direct messages on her timeline about her and Elgin having a personal/sexual relationship with one another while also noting on her caption that he is quite the manipulative person who mentally and verbally abuses people.

She also shared messages which seemed to be of some little disrespect and distrust towards his tag-team Jeff Cobb, as he said that he steals his spotlight.

As per Elgin’s side, he discussed the case on social media, doing everything from saying he is in the process of selling Glory Pro Wrestling to quitting social media, only to return the following day.

Later in early-2018, Elgin returned to Twitter after a series of stints over some case handling with Malone to issue a statement. The statement read about his apologetic words and reflection on his mistakes with having the utmost respect for the woman on the matter.

However, the woman that was mentioned in the statement responded to it, saying that his sincere message was not his own but just some words written by a person other than himself to which he only added his name. As she concluded, writing, “There is no believing any feigned sincerity he puts forth again. And so I’ll spend the rest of my day shaking and sobbing.”

Such scandals and controversies surrounding him led Michael to have his career damaged to a certain extent. Most of the ones who used to book him stopped doing so except for two major exceptions, NJPW and IWA Mid South Wrestling. But after another of his law-breaking acts this 2021, he is seemingly falling out from his professional career as a wrestler.

Michael Elgin Wrestling Career

Over time putting his effort to be a better professional wrestler, he reached new heights inside the ring, including his name making it to the Ring of Honor in the WWE and later making a great achievement for himself in the NJPW. But it does not seem like he will be continuing his business with the WWE. Due to 2017’s accusations made against him by a fellow wrestler he trained since WWE has distanced itself even further from Elgin following a stint of this year.

Though his career indicates great earnings for him over the decades, Michael’s net worth is not disclosed as of now.

Michael debuted himself in NJPW during the 2015 G1 Climax and instantly impressed the company, which led him to sign a contract with them in March of 2016. Though NPJW stayed in the contract for a while following his accusations of mishandling in 2017, NJPW, with careful consideration and dialogue, parted ways after his contract expired in March of 2019.

The professional wrestler on talk debuted in late 2004 using his ring name as Michael Elgin, and by the age of 16, he has become an independent professional inside the ring. Some of his early wrestling was for promotions in the competitions including Combat Zone Wrestling, World League Wrestling, Alpha-1 Wrestling, and the Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South, where he won the IWA Mid-South Strong Style Championship in 2008.

Elgin first made his way to the Ring of Honor in 2007. He signed a contract with the Ring of Honor following a regular attendance of his competition inside the ring in 2010 as a part of House of Truth, where he is a one-time ROH World Champion. And he later bagged himself the award of Survival of the Fittest Tournament twice, in 2011 and 2015, making him the first wrestler to win the tournament twice.

He also signed in briefly between 2016 and 2019 with the NJPW, where he is a former NEVER Openweight Champion, one-time IWGP Intercontinental, and one-time NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion.

He has also worked for the Southern California-based company Pro Wrestling Guerilla, where he is a one-time PWG World Tag Champion with Brian Cage. His work with BSE Pro Wrestling also brought him some success winning the BSE Tag Team Championship with Ashley Sixx and Great Canadian Wrestling in 2006, where he won the GCW National Championship twice and the GCW Tag Team Championship twice.

Michael reportedly went missing on 22 June 2021 as his friend Maria James shows some concern for the wrestler via Facebook. In another post, Elgin’s sponsor, Eric, explained how he supported the star in his hard times and noted that he left his home with no phone and just his vehicles. In the post, Eric also provided a number to contact if anyone has more information about Elgin.

A day later of the worrisome post, Global Syndicate Wrestling, a promotion Elgin worked for earlier this year, shared the good news on Twitter, writing, “Mike Elgin has been found and he is doing ok and is being taken home.”

But who knew that his disappearance would lead his ex-fiance (Alex) to connect it to his recent protective order violation against her.
