Jimmy Garoppolo Facing Uncertainty With San Francisco 49ers

Jimmy Garoppolo talked about his limited time as the 49ers quarterback and his head coach Kyle Shanahan had declined to make a farewell statement about him after the game stating, "That's the last thing on my mind."

Jimmy sounded like a man summing things up when he spoke to the media saying, "They hit pretty hard in the locker room."

When asked about the postgame, Jimmy answered, "It was an emotional locker room, like you'd expect. It's a tough one...(The emotions) hit pretty hard in the locker room. It's one of those things you gotta be glad it happened, just smile from it, think about the good things. We'll see what happens in these next couple days, weeks, whatever, but I love this team."

He concluded by saying, "The fight and the battle in this team throughout the entire year has been really impressive, and I love those guys."

However, the 49ers' exact steps with Jimmy's future are not clear as Lance waiting in the wings as a premium investment and Garoppolo once again battling multiple injuries in a so-so 2021 performance. Jimmy is due $26.95 million in 2022 which is the final year of his five-year extension signed in 2019 but the 49ers can have benefited if they cut or trade him.

Jimmy Garoppolo Salary, Contract, & Stats

Jimmy Garoppolo is currently in his final year with the 49ers as he was traded with the New England Patriots in 2018. They signed him as he led San Francisco to five straight victories. Ultimately, Garoppolo was provided a multi-year contract at about the same annual value as what they would have paid had they chosen to use the franchise tag.

His base salary in his first year 2018 was $6,200,000 with a signing bonus of $7,000,000. His average salary is $27,500,000 and was guaranteed $41,700,000 at signing the contract.

His contract will expire in 2022 and he will be a free agent in 2023. However, Garoppolo had an issue with injuries so, the 49ers spent four draft picks to select his replacement and they didn't lower his cap for 2021 through a restructure and an extension.

He was with NWE for 3 years in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and he has scored the total goal of 63 from the position of Quarterback. He won 17 goals via NWE and 46 from the team SFO.
