Ashley Biden, the youngest daughter of Joe Biden, is active in the Delaware Center for Justice, a non-profit organization. Back in early 2020, hot news hit the media outlets citing that the Delaware non-profit organization received a $166,000 federal grant around the time that Ashley Biden got elected as the executive director of the company.
In 2014, Biden had been serving as an associate director for Delaware Center for Justice for a year. But after a couple of months, the organization announced that she got promoted to the executive director. It is said that the U.S. Department of Justice selected the Delaware Center for Justice from the federal Edward Byrne Memorial grant program.
In the meantime, Ashley's father, Joe Biden, was one of the advocates for the Edward Byrne grant and helped $1.7 billion to the program as vice president. The plan was initiated in honor of a fallen New York City Police Department officer.
Questions were arising around that cited whether Biden's Vice Presidency influenced the selection process of the non-profit organization or not. Tom Anderson, who serves as the director of the National Legal and Policy Center's Government Integrity Project, mentioned:
'The timing of the grant approval and his daughter's ascent to leadership in the organization that received it makes it necessary for the agencies involved to investigate whether Biden improperly used his influence to steer this grant to his daughter.'
Ashley's promotion to the executive director also hiked her salary range than others. While the previous executive director Joanna Champney made $71,000 in 2013 and $69,000 in 2014, Ashley Biden's starting earning was $82,000.
