Tommy Dorfman has come out and reintroduced herself as a trans-woman, saying that her “pronouns are she/her.”

Dorfman spoke to Time, saying, “For a year now, I have been privately identifying and living as a woman – a trans woman.” She also found the concept of “coming out” as a funny matter.

The actress added that she had reintroduced herself as a woman as she has had made a medical transition. She also said, “Coming out is always viewed as this grand reveal, but I was never not out. Today is about charity: I am a trans woman.”

She explained that she’s been living in truth via Instagram for several months while publicly documenting her transitioning process. However, she kept her name the same, Tommy, explaining that it was the name was of her “mom’s brother who passed a month after I was born.”

As she went on to talk more in detail, she seemingly is excited to have her other roles as a female in the acting projects. She’s also ready to explore new romantic relationships after carefully considering what she wants in a partner. She said about her current relationship as a more “gay” one, as she opened about how she redefined her relationship with her current partner as friends to have a proper male-and-female relationship.

While acknowledging some feelings of sadness and loss during her transition, Dorfman said she is looking forward to a future where she is “just radically honest.”

Tommy also took to her Instagram account afterward the interview for expressing her gratefulness to “every trans person who walked this path, broke down barriers, and risked their lives to live authentically and radically as themselves before me.” She added, “thank you to all the trans woman that showed me who I am, how to live, celebrate myself, and take up space in this world.”

Well, while many may view it to be quite awkward, some of her fans, family, and friends, including her cousin Andi Dorfman and the GLAAD Organization, seemed to be quite happy about her stealing and expressing her true colors.
