Dorfman came out as non-binary with pronouns of they/them and has been married to Peter Zurkuhlen since 2016, and Hedges has said his sexuality exists on a ‘spectrum.’

Is Lucas Hedges Gay?

Lucas Hedges opened about his sexuality in an interview with Vulture in mid-2018.

Hedges told Vulture at the time he was bracing for more questions about his sexuality given the film Boy Erased’s subject, where he played a gay character. Still, the only problem in answering is that he doesn’t have it all figured out himself.

During the interview, Hedges recalled having a crush on a boy at camp when he was in third grade and feeling “terrible about it.” However, the actor praised his mother for being “very comforting” when she noticed her son’s distressing situation. In addition, hedges said his interest in men and women continued to fluctuate as time went by.

The actor continued by referencing his sixth-grade health teacher, who was the first to teach him that sexuality existed on a spectrum. Hedges won’t label his sexuality just yet, but he is comfortable admitting he doesn’t fall into any particular definition.

“I felt ashamed that I wasn’t 100 percent, because it was clear that one side of sexuality presents issues, and the other doesn’t as much,” Hedges said. “I recognize myself as existing on that spectrum: Not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual.”

Back in the last of January 2019, Lucas had finally had some free time after his continuous three years of job. And he was fine with that. He told THR during WSJ Magazine’s Talents and Legends dinner on 28 January 2019 at Mr. Chow. “I’m going to visit my girlfriend [actress Taylor Russell] and then take a family trip. So I’m going to look at my life and my relationships outside of work-related environments, and that feels really important to me right now.”

However, they seem to have parted as of now since much of them as a couple is not heard of in the news.

The pair together starred in the film Waves. Like Emily, Taylor Russell abruptly becomes the lead in the second half of the film, her character’s development spurred on by a seriously adorable meet-cute with a boy at her high school named Luke (Lucas Hedges).

In the face of her family’s grief, Emily slowly finds the courage to take her own path by taking Luke’s hand. Emily and Luke couldn’t be more different, but a special bond is formed between them. Theirs is just one of the many dynamic relationships presented in the movie Waves' plot.
