The General Hospital alum Maurice Benard published his new book entitled 'Nothing General About It: How Love (and Lithium) Saved Me On and Off General Hospital' on 23 March 2020 and took nearly half a month to discuss his literature. As he appeared on the 20 April's episode of The Talk, he did mention his life at isolation due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), bipolar disorder, and many more.

The Talk revealed a short clip of Maurice saying that he is living happily with his family but so used to doing the same things over and over for 27 years. Further, he stated that although he has a big family, big home, he always feels trapped inside, which is very tough.

Maurice quit the soap after a couple of weeks of landing his part due to the breakdown, which he cited that he had no interest in acting anymore.

He even admitted that he ran through frustration and disruption that he threatened his wife to take her life. He said his wife responded, 'You will do it word by word if we have to. Just get upstairs. We will hold your hand.'

The couple was in a romantic relationship before they tied their nuptial knot. They started dating in 1992, and after eight years, they gave their relationship a brand new shape by exchanging the engagement rings in 1988.

After a couple of years of their engagement, the couple shared their wedding vows on 11 August 1990.

Maurice and Paula also have four children together, namely Heather Ann Smith-Benard (b. 25 June 1991), Cailey Sofia Benard (b. 18 September 1994), Cassidy Rose Benard (b. 18 April 1999), and Joshua James Benard (b. 5 December 2004).
