The law firm, Edelson PC, sued the former couple on behalf of several families who lost loved ones in a Boeing plane crash. According to records, the two allegedly embezzled the settlement funds meant to help victims' families on Lion Air Flight 610.
The documents stated,
“Tom has resorted embezzling the proceeds of settlement that should have been directed to his clients including as the basis for this complaint, the widows and orphans who lost loved ones in the tragic crash of Lion Air Flight 610 in order to continue funding his and Erika’s lavish Beverly Hills Lifestyles."
A documentary released on HULU was released based on Tom and Erika’s legal controversies. In the teasers, the various experts spoke on the scandals surrounding the former couple, all of which came to light following Erika’s divorce last year. After the release of the documentary, Erika’s attorney withdrew from representing her and advised her to seek new representation. The lawyers wrote, “The relationship of trust and confidence that is essential to a properly functioning attorney-client relationship has broken down in, and in the good-faith assessment of counsel, the relationship is irreparable.”
