Makayla's journey to American started with an audition from Los Angeles where she sang 'Who's Lovin You' by The Miracles. She joined the gang to the next level with 'Yes' from Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. The judges told her that she got advanced after she performed Jennifer Holliday's 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going.' She showed up in an 'R&B' category in 'Genre Challenge' alongside Just Sam, Jordan Jones, and Cyniah Elise.
During the Hawaii Round, she sang 'Sorry Not Sorry' by Demi Lovato, after which she made it to the Top 20 finals. And now she is at the Top 11 finals.
She Is A Golden Buzzer Holding Contestant From America's Got Talent
Makayla Philips, age 17, previously competed on the 13th season of America's Got Talent in 2018 and received a golden buzzer from the beauty queen Heidi Klum.
She sang Demi Lovato's 'Warrior' on the audition rounds, which drove Heidi Klum insane to hit the golden buzzer.

Similarly, she garnered the standing ovations by Heidi and Mel B during the quarter and semi-finals. Makayla dedicated her song to her firefighter father during the quarterfinals and performed 'Who U Are' by Jessie J in the semi-finals.
However, Makayla got knocked out of the competition. Nevertheless, her golden voice remained the same.
