Desiree DaCosta Seeks Divorce From Husband Blair Underwood After 27 Years In Marriage
The decades-long pair Desiree DaCosta and her husband, Blair Underwood, have announced they are going separate ways after 27 years of marriage.
The couple, who shares three children, announced their split in a joint social media statement. They shared it on Instagram on 31 May 2021 to announce their split.
“After a tremendous amount of thought prayer and work on ourselves individually and collectively, we have come to the conclusion to end our marriage thatbegan 27 years ago,” the statement began. “It has truly been a beautiful journey,” they continued in their joint statement.
The statement further read that their “proudest achievements are our three incredible children” who were entrusted to them by “God,” for them, they will find their best interest and will “continue to do so.”
Furthermore, the duo noted their plans to split amicably – hoping to remain “the best of friends” and be good co-parents to their children despite them going different ways. “We thank you for all your support throughout the years and we humbly ask for privacy and understanding during this new season of change,” the message concluded.
Desiree and Blair tied the knot on 17 September 1994 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
In an interview a few years back with Oprah.com, Blair said he was confident of his marriage at that time. He said he always wanted to solve whatever problems his wife, Desiree, faces. Although, later, Blair understood that Desiree only wants him to support her and be there. Blair said he was relieved to find that Desiree only seeks his comfort and doesn’t want him to find answers for her. He also credited his wife for teaching “me what it means to be a man in my relationship with her.”
The couple was also a prominent black celeb couple during their time together. Together they attended several award ceremonies, opening ceremonies, and such as a couple. In addition, they appeared during Showtime Salutes Black History Month at B. Smith’s Restaurant in New York City, New York, USA, and the 70th Annual Tony Awards at the Beacon Theater on 12 June 2016 in New York City, to name a few.

In their 27 years of marriage, they were graced with three children; Blake, Paris, and Brielle. Paris appears to be very business-minded and has some interest in the entertainment world, like his dad. As for Blake and Brielle, their accomplishments are not much known to the public, but they may be good enough in their respective fields as they come from such a talented and accomplished family.
But, however, their parents have not seemed to make it through some issues for being together in a marital relationship. They have tried hard in any way possible over the years to have a good married life. But, nevertheless, it has concluded in the decision to go their separate ways.
While the couple’s joint statement was released online on social media, others were curious to know Blair’s net worth on the heels of his divorce proceedings. CelebrityNetWorth notes that Blair has an estimated net worth of $8 million.
