The pandemic Coronavirus has affected not only the health and lives of people all around the world but also many other industries. Concerning the recent situation, the outbreak of the virus has played a vital role in dropping down the business, economy, as well as the entertainment industry.

Well, there have been many precautions applied to control the spreading of the virus, and the team of Netflix's The Witcher Season 2 has halted its production for a couple of weeks on 16 March 2020 concerning the current scenario of Coronavirus in the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom also manifests the data of rapidly increasing rates of the disease in recent times, which is an affecting factor for pausing The Witcher production. 

Netflix has already canceled all its production in the United States and Canada after President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency.

Also, Kristofer Hivju, who is set to star in the second season of the Netflix series, The Witcher, has tested positive with Coronavirus on 16 March 2020. He announced his health state through an Instagram post stating that he, along with his family members, has placed himself in a self-quarantine at home.

When Is The Release Date Of The Witcher Season 2?

As per Netflix's official, The Witcher Season 2 is set to release in 2021. The Witcher season 2 was first announced, before six weeks of airing its first season, on 13 November 2019, and started shooting in early 2020.

It had been shooting in London, Scotland, and several parts of Europe until it was canceled for a couple of weeks until April 2020 due to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its effects seen in the United Kingdom.

The Coronavirus is likely to affect its release date as well. As the production of the series has halted for some periods, there might be a change in its premiere in the coming months.

But there are no official announcements regarding the release date of The Witcher season 2 with concern over Coronavirus.

The Witcher Season 2 Cast And Crew

The Witcher is based on a novel by a Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.

There are some new faces joining the new season of Netflix's series next year out of which some are Kristopher Hivju, Paul Bullion, Yasen Atour, and Kim Bodnia. They will portray the role of Nivellen, Lambert, Coen, and Vesemir, respectively. 

Rest are the usual characters. Henry Cavill leads the role of Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan plays Ciri, and Anya Chalotra will appear as Yennefer like in season 1.

Similarly, Mimi Ndiweni will star as Fringilla, Mecia Simson as Fransesca, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, and many other artists with their outstanding roles.
