Japanese light novel series High School DxD is based on comedy, supernatural, and romance genres. Ichiei Ishibumi authored the light novel series, while Miyama Zero portrayed the light novel.
The light novel was made into an anime adaptation by TNK studios, which aired on AT-X. The anime series made its debut from 6 January 2012 to 23 March 2012. After the successful hit of the first season, the second season of this anime titled "High School DxD New" made its return, which aired from 7 July 2013 to 22 September 2013. Another sequel of the anime series titled "High School DxD Born," premiered from 4 April 2015 to 20 June 2015.
The fourth season titled "High School DxD Hero" got released, which aired from 10 April 2018 to 3 July 2018. Tetsuya Yanagisawa directed the following third seasons while Sueda Yoshifumi directed High School DxD Hero alongside Kenji Konuta, who composed the series.
Both Funimation and Madman Entertainment have licensed the anime franchise High School DxD.

The director of this anime series, Yoshifumi Sueda, has already determined what to install in the upcoming sequel. According to Sueda, the anime series will adapt a small part of the story from the light novels. The forthcoming season of High School DxD will recommence with the Hero Oppai Dragon Arc, where it dropped off in season four. The new season of this anime franchise will adapt the volumes 11 and 12 from the manga. In addition to new characters as well as old, the anime series will have tons of new story concepts to decipher.
The story arch commences with the initiation of the Middle-Class Promotion Test. While Akeno, Kiba, and Issei prepare for the examination, Koneko begins to act dubiously. Koneko has observed 'Issei and Rias' relationship growing close to each other. The story takes an electrifying turn when Azazel takes Ophis and the captain of the Khaos Brigade to the Hyoudou Residence.
As per the rumors and speculations, Highschool DxD Season 5, is said to launch in mid-2020. However, the official date for the release is not determined, although it is already under development process.
The Plot Of The High School DxD
The story of High School DxD takes place in the Kuoh Academy, which was an old girls school. However, it was turned into a Co-ed institution. Concealed from the students who are studying in this academy, the school is home to many varieties of demons and angels.
The story revolves around a lecherous high school freshman named Issei Hyodo, who aspires to become a harem king. On his first date with a cute girl, he gets killed, who reveals herself as a fallen angel. Later, Issei is revived as a devil by a demon girl named Rias Gremory. Now Issei is forced to serve her and her devil family.
Throughout the anime series, he learns of his newfound abilities and fights many different kinds of entities. Alongside Rias and other girls whom he befriends, he joins the occult research club, starting his dream of becoming the harem king.

•Issei Hyodou
Issei Hyodou is the main protagonist of this anime series who aspires to become a seraglio king. With his newly found powers, he summons from a dragon named Ddraig (Red dragon Emperor) who resides inside of him. His weapon is one of the thirteen Longinus weapon called "Boosted Gear." He is in love with the occult research club's president Rias Gremory.
•Rias Gremory
Rias Gremory is the red-haired female protagonist of High School DxD. After Issei is killed by a fallen angel named Raynare, she revives him. Rias is the head of the occult research club and an heiress to the Gremory family of devils. She has feelings for Issei after he saved her from the marriage proposed by the Phoenix Clan. She often gets jealous and wants Issei for herself when other girls start to get close to him. She is the next in the throne for the gremory household and possesses a strong ability named "Power of Destruction," which she got inherited from her mother. She joins the Hyoudou residence.
•Asia Argento
Asia Argento is a blonde-haired nun of the catholic church who can heal people, angels, and demons. When she accidentally healed a demon, she was excommunicated from the church as a heretic. When Asia was transferred to Japan, she met Issei and grow closer to him over a limited period. When she was abducted as a sacrificial pawn by Reynare, she lost her healing rings, which killed her. Rias resurrects her as a devil bishop and is forced to serve as a member of her devil family. She possesses a sharp healing sacred item named "Twilight Healing." She joins the Hyoudou residence.
•Akeno Himejima
Akeno Himejima is the black-haired vice president of the research occult club. She is often described as an ideal Japanese woman by many people. She is a member of her family with the role of a queen. She possesses several elemental attacks. Whenever she fights enemies, she wears a shrine priestess outfit and known as the priestess of thunder. She is the daughter of the fallen angel Baraqiel and a human shrine priestess. She has affection towards Issei when he accepts her for who she is when she told him her secret. She joins the Hyoudou residence.
•Koneko Toujou
Koneko Toujou is a silver-haired loli-face mascot of the research outfit club which performs the role of a rook in the family. She is a nekomata with two tails. She was a strayed devil before she met Sirzechs Lucifer. He handed her to her sister Rias, and she accepted her as a part of her family. She has feelings for Issei when he saves her and joins the Hyoudou residence as well. She possesses superhuman strength.
•Yuuto Kiba
Yuuto Kiba is a blond-haired second-year student and a fellow member of the research club. His role is of a knight, and he acts as one where he saves his fellow members with gracious style. He possesses a sacred gear named "Sword Birth," which lets him generate various kinds of blades. The ability can also create a large number of blades to attack his enemies. He was the sole survivor for the Holy sword project. After he ran from the organization, Rias found him and made him into a devil giving him the role of a knight.
