Paul Mescal Unites With Josh O’Connor For Gay Romance

It is reported that Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor are set to star in the gay romance produced by End Cue titled, The History of Sound. It is an Oliver Hermanus-directed adaptation of an award-winning short story where the story follows two young men, Lionel (Mescal) and David (O’Connor)  who set out to record their lives, voices, and music of their countrymen during the WW1 period.

The story is based on the eponymous Pushcart prize-winning story by American author Ben Shattuck and the shooting is set to take place next summer.

Director Hermanus said,

“I instantly fell in love with Ben Shattuck’s flawlessly beautiful short story and knew I had to be involved in its journey to the screen.

Paul and Josh are two of the most promising actors of their generation who will share with us deeply soulful performances. This is an unexpected love story that needs to be told as ‘ it is a journey through the life of America, across the 20th century and the traditions of American Folk music, all seen through the bond between two men immersed in the history of sound.

This undeniably powerful story will certainly resonate with audiences the world over.”

Paul Mescal has made his relationship official with Phoebe Bridgers. He is rumored to have spent the bank holiday enjoying a romantic weekend in London with the American singer, Phoebe.

As per the reports, “Paul and Phoebe were out in Shoreditch and looked so sweet. They were chatting, laughing and quite tactile. They seemed to really savor their time together,” an onlooker told.

An insider reported: “Paul invited pals and they played wild drinking games. They're both smitten. His membership on the celeb dating site Raya is a smokescreen to cover up that they’re secretly an item.”

Paul also reposted a photo of himself which Phoebe had shared on her Instagram stories where he can be seen holding a sky-high pile of pizza boxes.

Paul and Phoebe were first found enjoying breakfast at a café in Kinsale, County Cork in July. They were also spotted at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire looking very cozy and they also filmed an Instagram live together in May.

The indie singer had followed Paul on Instagram after watching Normal People in the pandemic and she revealed that she got a little pitter-patter in her heart when Paul quickly followed her back. Pal had also appeared in the video in her song Saviour complex shot last summer.

The pair were also seen out and about sporting GAA shorts which gathered quite attention and many fans commented saying,  “ Nice shorts Phoebe” and “ Probably robbed them off Paul Mescal”

Paul was also spotted celebrating his BAFTA award with his girlfriend Phoebe and Nicola Coughlan. He won the Best Leading Actor award for his role in Normal People.

He also revealed that he had his girlfriend for him when he plummeted into the limelight with the popularity of Normal People. He said “ to have someone to lean on through such a mad, mad time has been invaluable. Really, I don’t know where I'd be without her.”
