Patrick Duffy Recalls His Relationship With Linda Purl

72-year-old Patrick Duffy candidly recalled how he met Linda Purl during an interview with This Morning on 27 January 2022. He revisited the very start of their modern-day love story that began from a group text chat in 2020.

The actor video called  Linda Purl on FaceTime and smoothly transitioned to Zoom's call for two to three hours every night and he named their relationship, a Covid Romance as their relationship started at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. Patrick said, "It's a Covid romance. We didn't sit in the same room for almost four months but we spoke to each other every day. We kept texting, and texting became FaceTime for two and a half months. Plus, we Zoomed every night for two or three hours."

Patrick then added, "We didn't have that thing after the third dinner, 'Do I kiss? Do I take her to my house?"

He also shared how determined he was to finally see his long-distance love in person and drove 23 hours to her doorstep. His lover, Linda said, "I don't think it would have happened otherwise because in our normal lives pre-pandemic we wouldn't have had three hours to Zoom but we did." She confessed how Patrick ended their Zoom call saying, "As we were about to do the 'end meeting', Patrick says, 'See you tomorrow love you."

Patrick then described Purl as 'the most beautiful thing in the world and he added, "I wasn't looking for love but it found me."

Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl were just casual friends who had lost touch over time but during the pandemic, they both met on a group text chat and eventually got attracted to each other. Patrick told PEOPLE, "I'm in an incredibly happy relationship. I never thought for a minute this would happen again. I never thought I'd feel this way again."

Patrick also spoke about his late wife saying that they were always together for 48 years and said that he'd grown accustomed to life as a widower after his wife's death in 2017. He said, "I feel quite honestly, that it is keeping with the desires of my wife, the fact that we are intended to be happy. So, when it's offended, think about it, do whatever you do, but don't let it pass you up if it's the right thing."

Patrick also told Extra outlet how he found his new love during the pandemic, "That's the gift that COVID gave me - Linda Purl is the lady in my new life."

The Dallas star, Patrick Duffy was married to the late Carlyn Rosser in 1974. The actor had shared how they met on the tour bus and said, "I was an immature college graduate touring as narrator with this dance production, and she was beautiful ballerina 10 years older."

He said, "My wife had perfect pitch; she lived a life that was artistic. And I was drawn into that." Patrick was also introduced to Buddhism by Carlyn when he was in hard times and he shared, "When my parents were murdered, I went through all the emotions of the horrific event - shock and anger and everything - but I never felt disconnected from my parents. I never felt that immediate loss. I did not know why then, but in retrospect, it was a result of being Buddhist."

Patrick further shared how her legacy lives on with their children and their grandchildren saying, "I think if it weren't for my wife and myself, this wouldn't exist. That's eight people - all of whom have the potential to create so much value in the world? How can you not be proud of that?"

Patrick and his late wife, Carlyn have two sons together. Their first child was born in 1974 the same year they got married and named him, Padraic, and their second son was born in 1979 named Connor.

His wife, Carlyn Rosser died in 2017 due to cancer. The actor after his wife's death left him devastated but his children encouraged him to find love again and even tried to set him up according to an insider.
