Maria Shriver Officially Divorces With Ex-husband Arnold Schwarzenegger

Maria Shriver finally divorced her ex-husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, after a decade of splitting in 2011. According to TMZ, their divorce was finalized earlier this month by a private judge but a sitting judge entered the divorce into the Los Angeles court system on Tuesday morning.

As per some reports, the couple did not sign up a prenuptial agreement and Maria filed for divorce in July 2011 after her ex-husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered a child, Joseph Baena with their housekeeper. Since then, the couple has been estranged. Some reports also suggest that the divorce took so long to finalize due to lack of motivation and the couple’s shared net worth of $400 million.

The couple got married in 1986 and share four children together, Katherine, 32, Christina, 30, Patrick, 28, and Christopher, 24.

Her ex-husband, Arnold, was the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011 making her the Former First Lady of California. He has shared his regret for his actions and about his split in 2017 and said, “I do not need any time to reflect, when I know it was a major, major screw up.”

The former couple has both moved on from their relationship and her ex-husband has been dating physical therapist Heather Milligan for almost eight years now and Maria Shriver herself is in a relationship with political pundit and consultant Matthew Dowd.

Maria Shriver Married Life With Ex-husband Arnold Schwarzenegger

Maria Shriver and the former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, had been married for 25 years after they decided to separate in 2011. The split was due to Arnold’s affair with their housekeeper that resulted in the birth of their child, Joseph Baena who was born in the same year as their youngest son, Christopher.

The couple had released a joint statement in 2011 announcing their split and said, “This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship. We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment.”

The couple first met at a charity tennis tournament in 1977 and got married after 9 years of dating in 1986. They tied the knot at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Maria Shriver seems to be dating political analyst, Matthew Dowd since 2014. They first met when he was helping her ex-husband, Arnold with his election campaign. However, they started getting romantic with each other after her split with her husband. At the time of her split, Dowd was a major support system for Maria and they ultimately are together till today.

Maria Shriver had shared her daughter Katherine’s wedding experiences in Today with Hoda and Jenna and described her daughter’s wedding day as an emotional rollercoaster day for her saying, “As a mother, you go through many emotions, right? So you’re trying to be both excited, you get a new member of your family, but you’re kind of losing your child as they were. So you’re kind of excited and everybody’s like, ‘Well, isn’t this great? You’re like, ‘Yeah, it’s great, but it’s also kind of sad.”
