The 45-year-old Kym Marsh returned to BBC morning live show on Friday, 29 October, after her long break taken due to her father’s diagnosis of incurable prostate cancer. She was welcomed by her co-host Gethin Jones saying, “We’ve got some nice news on Morning Live, Kym’s back, it’s so lovely to have you back!”
Many fans also tweeted about her return saying, “So put the program on and see Kym there.” While another wrote, “A lovely surprise to see Kym back and looking great! keep safe and well, Kym we love you.” Many viewers were glad to see Kym back on track.
Her spot on the show was filled by Strictly Come Dancing: It takes two host, Janette Manrara.
The reason why Kym exited BBC’s morning Live was due to her anxiety battle and her father’s diagnosis of Prostate cancer. She said, “ For now, I’m just gonna take each day as it comes and not put any pressure on myself. So I’ll check in on the Morning Live family with my own family for now.”
She continued, “ Life’s been pretty difficult for me. I need to make a choice here about what I’m going to do. I decided to step back from the morning live to focus on my nearest and dearest.”
She said, “Starting with the beginning of the year when I had my double hernia op which should have been much more straightforward than it was. Then we found out my dad has cancer and then we caught covid.”
