The couple met at Ashley's church in NYC while Justin was volunteering there. Ashley was drawn to him at that time.
Justin ran into Ashley in an elevator during a charity event in a New York City church. Justin asked her out and the two went out on a date.
On their first date, Justin paid only half of the bill and expected her to pay the rest. Ashley was surprised at that time. Justin honestly explained that he had been used by models before for his money.
Ashley didn't found Ervin as her type. He was with his short hair, ill-fitting, baggy Old Navy jeans, white Hanes T-shirt, and Converse sneakers.
