In 2010, Suleika was diagnosed with a rare form of acute myeloid leukemia. At that time, she was just 22 years old. She found herself fighting for her life in New York City cancer wards, where she was given a 35 percent chance of survival.

After 1,500 days spent focused on survival, cancer had ravaged her body, her sense of self. Jon had loyally supported her through her long medical ordeal, being a loyal boyfriend. Jon's devotion was so extraordinary.

As reported by People, Jon revealed his hectic work schedule and life with his girlfriend, Suleika Jaouad, during the quarantine.

He opens up his personal world like never before and features a girlfriend of 10 years, Suleika Jaouad, on one emotional track of his album Music keeps me young. Show Me the Way is a song that exemplifies the manifestation of their relationship.

His song Show Me the Way speaks to a lot of his growing up and his relationship. He also expressed that a piece of their relationship sliced off into the album, which is wonderful. The couple had grown so closer due to the pandemic and quarantine together in 2019.

Jon also said that:

'Obviously there's so much loss that we've faced individually and collectively, but I find that this time has also been a blessing in that it gives us a break to be with each other.'

His girlfriend was busy in the daytime, writing books while he was busy in music. Although the couple lived together, they did not have time to see each other. So, they usually met at dinner time. The couple loved to eat a bowl of pasta and salad at Jon’s apartment.

The love birds also managed to attend various events together. They had attended the 60th Annual Grammy Awards in January 2018 and were pictured together at the special screening of Netflix's Quincy in New York City in September 2018.

Unfortunately, the couple didn't end up marrying each other, which is so hard to believe. Their relationship collapsed in 2021.
