The primary vocalist and lyricist for Mindless Self Indulgence, James Euringer, nicknamed Jimmy Urine, has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor.
According to Rolling Stone, Euringer began a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl in January 1997 and continued till June 1999, as per a lawsuit filed in New York. Euringer was aware that she was a minor, according to the lawsuit, and even wrote her a note wishing her a happy 15th birthday.
The suit claims that Euringer gave Jane Doe a fake ID so she could go to concerts and drink alcohol with him, despite the fact that he "tried to hide their relationship by telling her not to act affectionately with him while in public," according to Rolling Stone.
He is accused of photographing the accuser while she was naked and instructing her to “act like a tiny child, sucking her thumb, drooling, and peeing in her pants” during sexual actions. In addition to Euringer, the suit lists Warner Music Group and Elektra as defendants and the band's former manager and producer, James Galus.

Urine allegedly sexually groomed the accuser and "misled [her] into believing that his sexually assaultive behavior was not unlawful and that by engaging in sexual contact with him, [she] was actually helping to protect younger girls from sexual attacks," according to the suit.
The suit said,
"With their knowledge, relationship to Euringer, and control over Euringer, his shows, his music and at times his access to minors, Defendants had the opportunity and ability to stop Euringer's sexual assaults, and to protect Plaintiff and others, but did not. As a result, Plaintiff has suffered humiliation, shame, and horror that she will … suffer for the rest of her life."
He also asked that she "act like a small child" during sexual actions and "play it cool" in public, showing affection only in private.
