After losing her 50 pounds, she was criticized as sick. Some of her fans also commented on either the skinny bodysuits for her or not. To clarify her fans and haters, Jazmine Sullivan mentioned that :

"There’s nothing skinny abt me but my neck. I’m 5’8 however, so I sometimes photograph a little leaner than I am. But I ain’t skinny and that was never my goal."

Her mother is a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. At the same time, her father landed a position as a curator for the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section when Jazmine was five years old.

She has two siblings with whom she shared her childhood memories.

Sullivan has graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing in 2005.

She talked about her abusive physical relation since it happened. Her second album, Love Me Back ( 2010), was released when she had moved on from the situation. However, she could not be healed from its trauma.

After the breakup, Jazmine stayed away from music. As mentioned by Meaww, Jazmine told that ;

" left music because I was in a really bad relationship. It had gotten abusive. Just having to deal with the industry and that my personal life was so bad, I had to go."

Her song Forever Doesn’t Last from the album Reality Show addressed her break up was therapeutic for her to get through her failed relationship. She also has a track titled Masterpiece from the same album, which she said is about finding her worth.

Later, Jazmine felt a little ashamed about the things that she did after her breakup, and she allowed herself to do.

After the abusive relationship ended, Jazmine has appeared in a happy relationship with a musician Dave Watson. As reported by People, Jazmine told Vulture that:
