Kamala Harris Congratulated Ella Emhoff After Her College Graduation
Kamala Harris is the proud mother, stepmother, to be more specific, who didn’t back off to congratulate Ella on the occasion of her college graduation. On 15 May 2021, the vice president shared a photo of herself and Ella to congratulate her stepdaughter for her commencement from The New School’s Parson School of Design in New York City on her Instagram account.
“Congratulations to our daughter Ella on her graduation,” Harris wrote along with the post. “I am so proud of you. Keep dreaming with ambition and there is nothing you cannot achieve. Love, Momala.”
Harris previously gushed about her lovely relationship with her stepchildren to PEOPLE in August 2020, telling: “My children don’t call me stepmom, they call me Momala. We’re a very modern family. Their mom is a close friend of mine.”
Her father, Douglas Emhoff, also took to his Instagram account to congratulate Ella, along with the picture of two, captioning: “My darling Ella, we are such proud parents! We love you so much, and are very much looking forward to all you do in the future.” He added, “And, to the other Class of 2021 graduates out there, huge congratulations!”

Ella Emhoff was born on 29 May 1999 as Ella Rose Emhoff. She is the daughter of Doug Emhoff and his ex-wife, Kerstin Emhoff. She has an older brother named Cole Emhoff. Ella’s dad, Doug Emhoff, was married to Kerstin for 16 years, divorcing in 2008 before marrying Kamala Harris in 2014.
