The actress, Elisa Donovan, made a shocking confession during an appearance on the Celebrity Catch Up: Life after That Thing I Did podcast, revealing a crucial moment in her life.
While she was starring in the 1995 film Clueless, she was in denial about anorexia, so she took three to four days off in a week. But even with a relatively sufficient day off, she had a heart attack. Gladly, with a friend around at that time, her friends took her immediately taken for a doctor’s consultation.
The doctor gave an honest consultation to intake food with proper order. Donovan denied the fact that she was “too fat to be an anorexia.” However, as time went by, she thought about the issue with her career in mind and got afraid of losing the decent flow she enjoyed in her career.
Initially, she controlled eating disorders with the fear of losing her sight of goal, career. However, she explains her recovery was aided by something more significant than fear, the desire to be better.
She added during the talk, “Clueless changed my life in a lot of ways … It helped me to get healthy.” After facing a life-threatening issue, she adds, “Having an eating disorder is rarely greatly understood by the general public, and it really is a mental and emotional disease. People just look at the body as if that’s the issue, but it’s actually not much about that at all. So I try to help as much as I can.”
