DJ Drewski Will No Longer Play Diss Records

Hot 97 DJ Drewski has announced that he will no longer support drill music that glorifies violence and death. The DJ clearly said that the station wouldn't play songs directed at rival rappers or gangs. He wrote on his Instagram stories on 1 February, "I'm not supporting no more diss/gang music! If ya dissing each other in the songs, don't even send it to me! I don't care if the artist sends it, the label sends it, your big Homie sends it!"

He further wrote, "I will not support or play anymore Diss/Gang records on the radio! We r losing too many young men and women to the streets! If you make drill music there are a lot of drill songs without dissing your opps or Smokin on your opps!"

DJ Drewski encouraged artists to step us their pen game and creativity, saying, "No reason why every week someone is getting locked up or killed. I can't change the world, but I can stop supporting the non-sense." He also admitted that he was a fan of drill records and supported it from the beginning but confessed that it was getting worse. DJ Drewski wrote his heart out on his Instagram stories following the shootings of Nas Blixky, a Brooklyn rapper and another Brooklynite Tdott Woo rapper who got killed in broad daylight outside of his home near the intersection of East 98th Street and Avenue I.

DJ Drewski's stance on stopping the diss records and tracks from playing on his station has been supported by many people, and his fellow team member Hot 97 team member Ebro Darden agreed with him and encouraged other mainstays like Funk Flex and TT Torez to follow his footsteps.

DJ Drewski also spoke about it with Complex and said that showcasing and promoting diss records and violence added fuel to the fire, and as a result, every week, young women and men got killed or went to jail. He concluded his statements by saying that there will continue to be violence because of the way the songs are structured, so he won't be the one to add to this broken system.
