David Ellefson Removed From Megadeth Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations

One of the original and founding members was removed from the band Megadeth following the accusation of sexual misconduct.

With whom David founded the group in 1983, Dave Mustain was the one to announce on 24 May 2021 the exit of David from the group.

While announcing the exit, he further stated in his post that, “While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed is now enough to make working together impossible moving forward.” And ended it with saying the fans to look forward to their new music, which seems to be almost complete.

As reported earlier by several sources, Ellefson has been accused of grooming a girl who is not his wife, seemingly an underage girl online, via text messages and videos, which spread on social media.

On his Instagram account, which he has since made private, Ellefson denied the allegations, writing that the clips were “private, adult interactions that were taken out of context and manipulated to inflict maximum damage to my reputation, my career, and family.” He added the videos were “released with ill intention by a third party who was not authorized to have them or share them.”

David also shared a screenshot of a statement purported to be from the woman in the clips, who said she was not underage at the time and that the account of the incident had been taken out of context. The woman also made a bold statement saying that she “was always a consenting adult… In the end, it was all consensual and all online.”

On 11 May 2021, Megadeth issued a statement commenting about the allegations saying it “aware of the recent statements regarding David Ellefson” and indicated that it was “watching developments closely.” The band added: “As it relates to creativity and business, we are all familiar with one another. However, there clearly aspects of David’s private life that he has kept to himself. As this situation unfolds, it is important that all voices be heard clearly and respectfully. We look forward to the truth coming to light.”

However, the history of David Ellefson with the band Megadeth has finally come to an end. The band has officially parted ways with the bassist and one of the founding members, David, on 24 May 2021, publishing a statement on their social media.

Ellefson and Mustaine co-founded Megadeth in 1983. The bassist was a member of the band until 2002 then rejoined in 2010.
