The couple announced their engagement via Instagram while quarantining in April 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Life sometimes takes you in a different direction for a reason,” Courtney wrote on Instagram. “We should have been in Paris, but with how the world is at the moment, it was placed on hold. Instead, Wes brought Paris to me with the music, lights and live cam shot of the Eiffel Tower on our TV.”
She added, “I said yeas to my best friend last night and I am over the moon! Thank you Wes for making me your partner in crime for life. I love you.” The post was shared along with some photos of the pair showcasing their love as Courtney showed her engagement ring.

But now, after Al’s divorce with Alice, he remarried fellow journalist Deborah Roberts in September 1995, which makes Deborah Courtney’s stepmother. Al and Deborah welcomed two children together named Leila and Nicholas, who became siblings for Courtney.

Speaking about his eldest daughter, Courtney, he shared, “Courtney was not your typical kid, in that she didn’t follow the traditional path of high school in four years, then college for four years, then get a job,” he added, “That was all a bit of a struggle for her.”
In her sophomore year of college, Al explained that Courtney came to her parents and said she didn’t think higher education aligned with her path. However, she held a long-held passion for culinary and attended culinary school, and now she has made it to the world of culinary with her hard work.
