Workplace romances are prohibited in most companies, and Best Buy is no exception. Still, incidents of colleagues dating at work surface every now and again.
Nearly eight years after former CEO of the electronics retailer- Brian Dunn- was forced to step down from his position, another CEO is in trouble for an indecent relationship with a subordinate.
Corie Barry- the current Chief Executive Officer of Best Buy- is making headlines after an anonymous letter accused her of having a relationship with former Senior Vice President, Karl Sanft. The letter- which was received by the company's board on 7 December 2019- revealed that the alleged relationship took place before Corie assumed her position as the CEO in mid-2019.
An investigation is being done by Sidley Austin LLP, and if the accusations turn out true, Corie may have to resign from her job. If Corie is forced to step down, the position of CEO might go back to Hubert Joly- Corie's forerunner and the current executive chairman of Best Buy.
