While serving with the Doo-Wop group, he worked as a busboy at the Outback Steakhouse branch's popular chain restaurant. In 1995, meeting Lou Pearlman, Chris' career took the next step where together they formed a boy band group NSync. Then they formed a group of five boys named Kirkpatrick, Timberlake, Chasez, Lance Bass, and Joey Fatone.

Fatone has been with Kirkpatrick's Universal Studios Florida co-workers. NSync was active from 1995 to 2002. In those periods, the group sold over 50 million records all over the world. In particular, NSync's second album, No Strings Attached, was a massive hit and was sold over 2.4 million within the first week of the release. The album held the sold records for fifteen years until Adele's album 25 surpassed them in 2015.

After the band was dismantled in 2002, Kirkpatrick was off the news for five years until he appeared in Mission Man Band in 2007. Following Mission Man Band, Kirkpatrick was again cast as a member of the reality TV show Gone Country in 2008.
