Marcel Theo Hall, better known by his stage name Biz Markie, is an American rapper, singer, DJ, record producer, actor, comedian, and writer. He is also the artist for his timeless hip-hop single, Just a Friend, which hit Top 40 in several countries.

Biz Markie’s Family Gives A Statement On His Death Rumors

The rapper Biz Markie still seems to be alive and well receiving all-around medical care after his rep claimed his death rumors on the internet to be false.

The news comes after Biz was reported to be “in a hospice with significant brain damage” following a stroke.

Biz’s family smashed down the rumors telling Rolling Stone: “The news of Biz Markie’s passing is not true. Biz is still under care, surrounded by professionals who are working hard to provide the best healthcare possible. Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers and fans alike. At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Reporter Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson also tweeted to quash rumors Biz had died – but added he has “significant brain damage.”

Roland Martin also updated the rapper’s condition on Twitter: “Folks, @BizMarkie has NOT died. I have been in contact with sources who are texting and talking to his wife. My source talked to Biz TODAY. Per his wife, Biz HAS NOT passed away. Please stop responding to non-credible sources. This hurts the family friends and fans.”

Biz was reportedly struggling with his health as he was hospitalized twice last year due to complications with Type II Diabetes. Although the first time around, he was already in quite the struggling health conditions, it became severe during the second time, in December 2020, when the outlets first reported that Biz suffered from a stroke while he was hospitalized. It was also reported that “the stroke affected his brain,” making it difficult for him to communicate but later said to be recovering well from it.

However, he again has been hit with the same health issue related to the previous ones, and it may be hard for him to make a complete recovery this time as his surrounding shows some serious concern.

In September 2019, Biz proved that he had been together with a woman for a long time, sharing a picture of his wife on his Instagram. But it was not all enough to convince the public, as he tweeted in October 2019 with a throwback picture of his wife on Twitter. He mentioned in the tweet that he has been with his wife for fifteen years and asked to follow her as well at the time.

Likely, he has posted several pictures of his wife on social media ever since, including a birthday wish addressed to her in April. He captioned the picture: “I want everyone to wish my lovely wife Tara a Happy Birthday.”
