Andrew O'Keefe Arrested For Alleged Assault

The former Australian TV host, Andrew O'Keefe was arrested after he allegedly grabbed a woman's throat before kicking and punching her in Sydney's CBD. He was arrested on Thursday, at 4:30 am after police were notified about the assault taken on Tuesday afternoon. 

NSW Police released a statement saying that the former host met the woman in her late 30s at his Kent Street Apartment on 25 January when the assault took place. They said, "A verbal argument ensued between the pair, before the man allegedly assaulted the woman, grabbing her by the throat, pushing her to the ground, and punching her. The man allegedly assaulted the woman a second time - punching and kicking her - before she left the unit."

O'Keefe was arrested with two charges of choking a person and three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and when he was taken to the station, the former host could be heard screaming and thumping the side of a van.

Andrew is one of the most popular TV personalities on Australian TV and he is known to draw the audience from his strange charisma. He was also the former White Ribbon ambassador and he was also appointed to the inaugural meeting of the national council to Reduce Violence against Women and Children, an initiative of the Rudd government in 2008.

Initially, he worked as a lawyer in the Australian firm Allens Arthur Robinson and Public Interest Advocacy Centre in Sydney. However, he followed his dreams of becoming a host and worked on Channel Seven's AFI-nominated sketch show Big Bite in 2003. His manager reported that the host is a devoted and loving father and a cherished son and brother. He said, "He is fortunate to have wonderful support around him. He is looking forward to full health and hopefully being back in the studio in a couple of weeks."

Andrew O'Keefe and his former wife, Eleanor bought the North Bondi home on a 468 sqm block for $1.89 Million in 2007. The house was later renovated by the Sam Crawford renovation and it offers multiple living areas, a family-sized kitchen including a walk-in pantry, live twin wall ovens, a stainless steel gas cooktop, and a Bosch dishwasher. The house has four bedrooms and is accessed by a suspended staircase with high ceilings, plywood finishes, and a solar hydronic heating system. 

However, after divorce with his wife, Andrew, and his former wife placed the property on market for a $4.5 million price guide in 2021.

Andrew O'Keefe Personal Life

Andrew O'Keefe was born as one of five children of Barry O'Keefe, a judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is also the nephew of famous Australian rock and roll singer Johnny O'Keefe. Andrew was also the frontman of several Sydney brands in the 90s and played trumpet and piano.

He was previously married to Eleanor and had three children together. They separated in 2017 for unknown reasons and their divorce was finalized in 2019. Many people even assumed that the former Chase host got remarried after he was spotted wearing a ring but he cleared the suspicions saying that he was just wearing them on-air.

The host is quite private with his personal life is not much known about his children other than their names like his two sons are Barnaby and Rory and his daughter is named Olivia. After his divorce from his wife of 18 years, he revealed that he's entered a mental health facility for eight weeks and told, "We all use different methods to escape from the most uncomfortable parts of our existence and I certainly was not using the most healthy ones." 

However, in 2021, Andrew was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Dr. Orly Lavee at his home in Sydney.
