Alice Evans gave her first interview after her split from her Welsh actor Husband, Ioan Gruffudd, with ITV’s show Lorraine. She spoke about how devastated she was when she discovered her husband’s mistress and found out that Ioan had filed for divorce from the press.
She broke down on the show as she revealed that she was in a dark place after her divorce from Ioan Gruffudd. She said, “He wouldn’t talk to me, wouldn’t look at me, and went to sleep in the spare room. Eventually, I thought I might do myself harm. I was one of those very complement- what's the Bridget Jones phrase?- ‘smug marrieds.’ I thought it was never going to happen to me.”
Alice was in tears while talking to presenter Lorraine Kelly from her home, saying, “I think I was owed more than an Instagram after 20 years and two children. It was a little bit cowardly.” She was blocked by the Fantastic Four star Ioan Gruffudd on Instagram before making the announcement of his new relationship. She also recalled the moment when Ioan returned from filming the crime drama Harrow in Australia and plane back to LA, where they lived with their two daughters. She explained, “He came in, and he hugged the kids, and then just very dryly gave me a kiss on the cheek,” and within a few days, the moment came when he had told Alice that he didn’t feel the same way anymore.
She shared that she felt like she was losing her mind and she might harm herself after sleeping in separate rooms for five months.
She continued, “ It’s much scarier than I would’ve thought. I don’t know if I'm going to be able to stay here in the house or how much I'm going to be able to have the girls. It's gotten very nasty for some reason, and I don’t know why.”
She said she refuses to keep quiet, being emotional as, “I would say support is now about 80 or 90 percent in favor of me. Not in favor of me against him, but in favor of me speaking out and understanding why I'm doing it.”
Alice was so triggered by the divorce that she poured her heart out online, speaking about how he cheated on her for three years. She lashed out at mutual friends, which included EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite for congratulating the new couple. She has also tweeted a home video from Christmas 2019 where Ioan was playing a memory game with their daughters. She wrote, “ if you look at his face, there is something there. But God-I was in heaven. I had absolutely NO IDEA.”
On her Instagram, she had posted a throwback picture with Ioan writing, “Ooops! This came up when I was going through old photos. No offense to the ‘New Girlfriend.’”
Then after three days, she posted the same photo with Ioan’s face blacked out and apologizing to anyone who thought she was being “being unkind to Bianca (my husband’s mistress) by posting a pic of me and my 20-year love together."
Alice Evans Married Life With Ioan Gruffudd
Alice Evans had shared in January that Ioan Gruffudd decided to leave their family, writing, “Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced that he is leaving his family, starting next week. Me and our young daughters are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he no longer loves me. I'm so sorry.”
Her ex-husband, Ioan, had filed for divorce in March in Los Angeles and released a joint statement that said, “ As you can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for our family, and we remain committed to our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”
Alice had shared her reaction to divorce news expressing, “ I can’t sleep. Not a wink. I am terrified for what tomorrow will bring. Oh don’t worry, I'm fully aware of how pathetic that sounds. I'll make it worse. Do you know what I'm mostly scared of? It’s who the girl is. I know! Why? Why would it even matter?”
She had also shared an alleged message she received from her ex-husband saying that his time with Elsie was commandeered by her. She wrote along with the screenshot, “I haven’t spoken to my husband in 9 months. Elsie is breaking down. School grades in freewill. I was desperate to get his opinion, so I DARED to lean in while she was talking to him. I did my fair share of crying, screaming, accusing. I begged and begged for at least some sort of running discussion, for the kids' sake. That's my way of reacting to such a life-changing event. So he ghosted me. I have been ghosted for almost ten months now.”
