Eddie Van Halen died on Tuesday after years of his struggle with cancer. He had been diagnosed with the disease for more than ten years and frequently had been in and out of the hospital.

Eddie took his last breath at St. John's Hospital at Santa Monica, in the United States. His ex-wife, Valerie Bertinelli, current spouse Jane, son Wolfgang, and brother Alex, were present during the time he demised.

His health had been running downhill; the doctors said as they found that Van Halen's lung cancer has spread to his brain and other parts of his body. With concern about his cancer, he flew to Germany and the United States for around five years for the treatment. The latest diagnosis he went through was for his intestinal issues, and went through chemo.

TMZ said that Eddie believed the reason behind his growing cancer was his habit of putting a metal pick in his mouth, which he did for more than 20 years of his career. Similarly, Eddie was an active smoker.

Wolfgang Van Halen was a part of his late father's band, Van Halen, and contributed as a bassist.

Rest In Peace, Legend.
