The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Wayne LaPierre, had a lawsuit filed against him recently. The New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against the NRA, citing that the CEO of the association used the company as 'piggy bank.'
In the lawsuit filed by the attorney general, she used the term '118', giving hints of LaPierre having a lavish and sophisticated travel luxury. LaPierre traveled in private jets, luxury yachts, and safari trucks, the suit reveals. The lawsuit mentions that LaPierre used the association's fund for over-the-top vacations, private jets, and lavish meals.
Sources report that New York is looking forward to dissolving the National Rifle Association, and that's the reason why they sued the group's executive leadership for "fraud and abuse." Before, there was an 18-month-long investigation that reported a $64 million loss in just three years.
Back in August 2019, after the mass shootings in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the NRA decided to buy a $6 million mansion for LaPierre. The estate featured a $10,000 square foot area with lakefront and golf course views in Westlake, Texas.

The suit further states that the executive of the association executes, "instituted a culture of self-dealing, mismanagement, and negligent oversight at the NRA that was illegal, oppressive, and fraudulent."
Some of the allegations made by the New York Attorney General are as follows:
• LaPierre used thousands of dollars of NRA's charitable assets for his lavish lifestyle, including his living, travel, and meal.
• In three years, LaPierre visited Bahamas more than eight times along with his family, which cost around $500,000 to the NRA.
• LaPierre used his travel consultant on a monthly retainer without any written contract. It resulted in substantial additional expenses to the NRA, which included booking of luxury black car services. LaPierre spent more than $3.6 million alone in three years.
• LaPierre's Senior Assistant was subjected to the worth of $15,000 to $20,000 per month for business travel expenses, sponsorships, and event attendance.

On the other hand, Wayne LaPierre filed a counter-suit against the attorney general, Letitia James. He accused her of 'weaponizing' the power and 'politicizing' her office in an "affront to democracy and freedom." And the legal process is on the way.
