Fidel Lopez was in a relationship with his girlfriend, Maria Nemeth in 2015. They first met each other in a club and at the time, Maria had just got out of an 8-year marriage. She was a mother of her children and was 31 years old while Fidel was 25 years. Lopez lived with Maria and they moved in together to an apartment in Hollywood. Later, they lived with Lopez’s family and moved to the Colonnade Residences in Sunrise, Florida. 

His girlfriend, Maria was working as the manager of the Colonnade Residences and they were dating for around a year in 2015. A week after they moved into their new apartment, they had few drinks on 20 September 2015 and they somehow wound up in closet to have intercourse. When Maria called the names of her ex-husband during their intercourse, Lopez turned into monster and started destroying the apartment, breaking various items, punching holes in walls and shattered the sliding glass door. Maria was unconscious and lying in the closet and Lopez penetrated her vagina and anus with items like a beer bottle and a flat iron.

Lopez confessed that he inserted his arms up to his elbow into her vagina that caused her to bleed. Lopez ripped pieces of her inside out through her vagina and anus.
