The missing report was done by her roommate Sonya Sonnenberg on 14 December 2010, as she had missed her rehearsal and did not come home, which was surprising because Debbie was a person who left her financial career to pursue her dance career.

And the early stages of the investigation to find Debbie, Griffith even agreed to cooperate with the police, and he also admitted that she was in his house on the night she went missing. Later, on 15 December, authorities found her car abandoned in a backyard, and after some time, Griffith's roommate, Louis Colombo, pleaded guilty and admitted everything that happened.
