Amber McLaughlin was single at the time of her execution. However, she used to date her former girlfriend, Beverly Guenther, while she was male. She used to date Beverly back in 2003. Moreover, she used to visit her girlfriend at the suburban St. Louis office where she worked and even hid inside the building. Meanwhile, her girlfriend obtained a restraining order.
