Rose's Father Is A Military Veteran, Family Info

Rose's father was a military man and often stationed outside the US. When he was due to serve in Germany, the whole family - including Rose's mother Evelyn, her brother, and Rose - moved to the country.

At the time, Rose was only a small child. Living in Germany turned out to be one of the best things that happened to Rose - who started singing at the age of five. There, she got the opportunity to perform at the military base, which helped her boost self-confidence.

The family eventually returned to the singer's hometown in Killeen, Texas, in 1996, but her love for music didn't die down. Further, due to the support of her parents and brother - a contractor in Afghanistan, Rose got more motivated to sing.

Left Job At A Prison To Pursue Music Full-Time

As music didn't pay her bills, Rose had taken up a job at the Alfred D. Hughes male correction facility located in Gatesville, Texas. Though her singing ability didn't enhance by working at the prison, she did learn to handle rude people; the skill will come handy if she becomes a famous singer someday.

Rose worked at the prison for eight years but left the job to pursue music once she had saved enough money to last a year.

Initially Unwilling To Participate, Eventually Became A Finalist In The Voice

When Rose's best friend cum manager Taundra Noel Shaw first approached her to audition on the show, she was reluctant to compete. She made several excuses and even avoided the audition held in Austin, Texas.

However, Taundra later convinced her to perform at the Miami audition. At the audition, Rose sang Preach by John Legend and was instantly offered to be a part of their teams by both Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson. However, Rose chose Gwen as her mentor.

Eventually, she became the last four contestants remaining on The Voice alongside Jake Hoot, Katie Kadan, and Ricky Duran.

At the finals, Jake managed to surpass Ricky, Katie, and Rose and won the prize money of $100K as the winner of The Voice.

On the other hand, Rose who has not unveiled her net worth received praise from the coaches and audiences with her brilliant performances.

Made Gwen Stefani Cry With Her Singing

Rose's performance on 9th December 2019 was powerful enough to make a substantial impact on her viewers and, most notably, on her mentor, Gwen Stefani. In the episode, she sang the I Want To Know What Love Is by the British-American rock group, Foreigner. Rose's bewitching voice immediately melted her team coach's heart; Gwen burst into tears as the song proceeded.

Judge Gwen Stefani termed her performance as "unbelievable," while fellow judge praised Rose using the words "blessed" and " gifted" to describe her.

Further on 16 December 2019, Rose debut her single Steamroller for which she received praise from the coaches.

Previously Auditioned On American Idol

Prior to participating in The Voice, Rose had tried her luck in another reality show. She had auditioned for the American Idol but didn't make it to the voting round.

Rose has had quite an experience singing on stage as she also previously performed at Showtime at the Apollo during the amateur night a few years back.
